About Attorney Karina Rivera, J.D.
Karina Rivera received her bachelor’s degree from Texas State University before attending the University of Houston Law Center, where she earned her law degree in 2022. During law school, Karina worked in the Death Penalty Clinic, assisting in the defense of individuals facing capital charges. She also interned with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office in the Human Trafficking Division, gaining early exposure to complex and emotionally charged cases.
Karina was born and raised on the U.S.–Mexico border, growing up between El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. As a fully bilingual attorney fluent in both English and Spanish, she brings a unique cultural and legal perspective to her work and a deep understanding of the communities she serves.
After graduating from law school, Karina began her legal career as a criminal defense attorney, representing individuals accused of a wide range of offenses. She then joined the Travis County Attorney’s Office, where she served as a prosecutor.
Karina eventually returned to criminal defense and opened Rivera Law, where she now fights to protect the rights and freedom of those accused of crimes. Her experience on both sides of the courtroom—first as a defense attorney, then as a prosecutor—gives her an invaluable edge in anticipating the government’s strategy and building strong, effective defenses.
